Module IV: Optimizing Your Site for Organic Search, Part 2 – The Execution

It’s time for you to start populating your website with content. Content generation is the most essential part of the system – it’s the key that unlocks the gate to first page rankings.

Generating content is a systematic task. It’s a myth that you must be creative to write content for your website. I’m about to show you a tool that’ll help you always keep fresh content coming. You’ll never run out of ideas to what to write about, your content will be completely relevant to your niche and your content will be organic search optimized.

I. The Tiered List
The tiered list is the heart of your content plan. Basically, you’ll be using the keyword research tool you selected earlier to create a list of keywords you wish to target and ranking them by importance. Remember the golden rule: Traffic equals income, so you’ll want to be sure you’re choosing the most popular keywords and phrases for your website.

VOCABULARY – Tiered List: A list of targeted keywords for use in content, ranked by importance.

The keywords in your tiered list will determine your topic for a particular blog post. As you move through the list, you’ll find that you’re generating fresh, relevant content for your website.

The total number of keywords you choose for the tiered list is determined by how many blog posts you could generate in a day. To be on the safe side, we’ll start out with a list of 80. You can increase the number of keywords in your tiered list if you are moving through them too quickly.

To start creating your tiered list, open your word processor and create 4 headings:

Tier 1

Tier 2

Tier 3

Tier 4

Using your keyword research tool, find the top 20 most searched relevant keywords for your niche, and list them under “Tier 1.” Tier 2 consists of the next 20 keywords and so forth until Tier 4 is filled. You should have 20 keywords per tier.

Example Tiered List for stock trading niche:

Tier 1
Stock Trading – 3,600,000 searches/month
Online Stock Trading
Stock Broker

Tier 2
Buy Stock
Stock Advice
Online Broker

Tier 3
Stock Trading Software
Penny Stock Trading
Day Trading

Tier 4
Day Trading Stock Pick
Swing Trading
Futures Trading System

Note how my Tiered List is ordered from highest search volume to lowest. Also, notice that while the keywords all belong to the same niche (trading stock), they are different enough to generate an original article from each one.

When conducting your keyword research be sure to consider keywords that are technically slang, but used more frequently than the proper term. For example, a person looking for information on “refrigerators” may be more inclined to use the term “fridge.”

STOP! Watch the video “Using KeywordSpy to Create Your Tiered List” and follow the directions before proceeding.

II. The Content Schedule

As you generate content, you will stuff keywords from your tiered list into your content on a schedule.

Week 1:
Tier 1 Keywords
Tier 2 Keywords

Week 2:
Tier 1 Keywords
Tier 3 Keywords

Week 3:
Tier 1 Keywords
Tier 4 Keywords

Week 4:
Tier 1 – Keywords
Any keywords you may have missed.

So, using my example Tiered List, I would follow the proceeding content plan:

Week 1:
Write 6 original articles. Each article are on the following topics, respectively: “Stock Trading,” “Online Stock Trading,” “Stock Brokers,” “Buying Stock,” “Stock Advice” and “Online Brokers.”

Week 2:
Write 6 original articles. Each article are on the following topics, respectively: “Stock Trading,” “Online Stock Trading,” “Stock Brokers,” “Buying Stock,” “Stock Advice” and “Online Brokers.”

Week 3:
Write 6 original articles. Each article are on the following topics, respectively: “Stock Trading,” “Online Stock Trading,” “Stock Brokers,” “Buying Stock,” “Stock Advice” and “Online Brokers.”

Week 4:
Write 6 or original articles. Each article are on the following topics, respectively: “Stock Trading,” “Online Stock Trading,” “Stock Brokers,” “Buying Stock,” “Stock Advice” and “Online Brokers.”

In every week we target the tier 1 keywords. That’s because tier 1 are our most searched keywords. The tier 1 keywords should, theoretically, bring in the most traffic IF we can get our website to rank for them. The only way to get them to rank, however, is to generate content that includes them.

II. The Paradigm Shift
Every 2 months, you will initiate the paradigm shift – the change in the keyword posting pattern. Note that the original posting schedule gives precedence to Tier 1. We do this because Tier 1 consists of the most popular keywords. Those are the ones that will bring the most traffic to your website. However, they most likely are being targetted by other webmasters. Therefore, we will hit those keywords more so the occurrence of the keyword appears more on our website.

After 2 months of targeting the popular keywords, we need to change our attention to the less popular ones and ensure they too, will rank high in a search. The new posting schedule is:

Week 1:
Tier 4
Tier 3

Week 2:
Tier 3
Tier 2

Week 3:
Tier 2
Tier 1

Week 4:
Tier 1
Tier 4

During the paradigm shift, every tier is given an equal distribution – all tiers are hit twice during the month. I’ve been asked why the “paradigm shifted” schedule isn’t the normal schedule since all the tiers are hit evenly. The “unshifted” schedule hits the most important keywords every week until they are high enough on the search engine to require less support.

III. Content Generation

Where / How to Generate Content
Content is key to the success of your niche website for many reasons. For one, adding content that is relevant to your niche increases your site’s authority with the search engines. You’ll also need content to place keywords in. People will find your site by searching for those keywords.

There are many ways that content can be generated. The easiest way is to write the content yourself. You can also hire writers to write content for you, or purchase pre-made articles outright.

Whichever way you choose to go, you’ll use the WordPress blogging function to add the content to your website. The video below will show you how to work the WordPress blogging tool. The video will also discuss why you will use the blog builder rather than the page builder.

f. The Paradigm Switch
Every 6 months, you will evaluate all of your keywords and make sure they still belong in their current tiers. Use your keyword research tool on all of your current keywords. Check and see if their popularity are as high as they were when you first started. Some keywords will change tiers, and others may be eliminated completely. Either way, don’t be afraid to switch it up. If a keyword is no longer popular, move it to the correct tier, or eliminate it.

g. Putting it all together – The Plan pt. 1
Search engine companies like Google, Bing, et al. make money through paid placement ads. Advertisers can’t justify the costs of paid placement if they receive no visitors. Therefore, it’s in the best interests of the search engines to have their organic search listings (non-paid) as informative as possible.

You’re going to take advantage of this synergistic relationship between organic search and paid placement by creating a niche website and monetizing it via affiliate offers and selling ad space.

To monetize your site, however, you need traffic. Remember the golden rule: Traffic equals income.

Adding consistent, targeted content will cause your niche website to rise up in the search results, thus increasing the amount of traffic to your website.

You’ll know what content to add because you’ll base the content around the keywords in your tiered keyword list. Follow the schedule accordingly and execute the “Paradigm Shift” every two months. Every six months, execute the “Paradigm Switch.” The paradigm shift and paradigm switch keeps your content fresh and relevant.

b. Including Keywords
Each blog post needs to incorporate keywords from your “tiered list,” which you’ll build later. You do not want to use the keywords too many times – this is a practice known as “keyword stuffing” and is generally frowned upon by the search engines.

Keyword density is the number of times a keyword appears on a web page compared to the total number of words on the page. The optimal keyword density for a particular word is 1 to 3 percent. Calculating your keyword density is easy. The formula is:

(Times the keyword appears / Total Number of Words) x 100 = Keyword Density

Example: The keyword appears 4 times in a blog post of 400 words. To calculate the keyword density, you would use the following calculation:

(4 / 400) = 0.01

0.01 x 100 = 1

The keyword density of your blog post is 1% for that keyword.

If your keyword is a keyword phrase, however, the formula is slightly different. The new formula is:

(Times the keyword x number of words in the phrase / Total Number of Words) x 100 = Keyword Density

Keyword density is a controversial subject. Some organic search experts believe that keyword density, being a concept that predates the age of commercial search engines, is outdated and useless. Other experts believe that keyword density provides a basic model for beginners to start with. Regardless, there

You’ll also want to conduct some basic competitor analysis research. It’ll be significantly harder to get your website higher on the search listings if there are too many websites in your niche.

a. Introduction

Content generation is the key to your success. Clean, organic search friendly optimized content will bring the traffic to your site from the search engines. More importantly, however, the content is where you’ll place affiliate links.

VOCAB WORD – Affiliate Links
In affiliate programs, it’s a special URL that contains the ID or username of the affiliate. This URL is used by the advertiser to track all traffic the affiliate (you) sends to the advertiser’s site as a part of the affiliate program.

The affiliate is ultimately paid for the traffic sent to the advertiser, given that certain actions are taken – i.e. a product is purchased, or a inquiry for the advertiser’s services are made.
